Long-Term Experiential Learning Programs (L-TELP)

IMG_0905.jpg

The concept of a long term experiential learning program (up to 20 days), in a remote location has been well-researched and reported on. It is conclusive that this sort of experience — particularly for boys, but also for girls — has a massive impact on the life of a teenager.

Boomerang Adventures are very pleased to be involved in these programs. The concept of a remote location, with no technology, and the opportunity to build positive relationships, be challenged and live independently, gel together well to provide something very special in the life of a teenager.

These programs have a number of key aspects, some of which are listed below.

  • Remoteness

  • Independent living

  • Decision making, individually and as part of a small group

  • Expedition — anything up to six days

  • Solo — both a small daily time for reflection, as well as a 24 hour period camping out

  • Cultural experiences — working with Central Australian and Top End Communities

  • Service project

  • Genuine experiential learning (this is amazing to watch and see unfold)

  • Shopping and cooking for the small group

  • Lots of fun

These are just a few of the elements that make up an experience that is like no other. If you would like your students to experience something unique, life-changing, fun, and something words can’t really describe, you need to look into a long-term experiential learning program for your school.

Boomerang Adventures run these programs in Central Australia as well as the Top End of Australia.
